The Youth Construction Academy takes students from classroom to construction site, building a Habitat home from the foundation up. Students gain certifications and develop valuable trade skills, leading to an opportunity for gainful employment, while engaging them in the social aspect of building affordable housing and bettering their community one project at a time.

built on partnerships

Through partnerships with local schoolsstudents start their construction curriculum in-class, developing the competencies essential to the construction industry, including the skills and knowledge related to safety practices, proper use of hand and power tools, plan reading, and basic rough carpentry and framing.

Upper level students in the program meet on dedicated Habitat construction sites throughout the school year as part of a dedicated class period. Under experienced supervision and industry leaders, students begin practicing the skills involved in building a house.

This unique partnership has double the impact: your contributions help ensure we deliver the most engaging and productive hands-on experience for students, and produce well-built affordable homes for local families.
